Whats Calvary Chapel's view on seeking to minister to the kids?
We believe that children are a blessed gift from God and that it is essential that we “train a child up in the way that he should go and when he is old he will not depart from it.” We understand that as parents your greatest longing is to see your children grow up to walk with Jesus. With this in mind we seek to have a children’s ministry of the highest standard.
What is Calvary Chapel's goal in ministering to children?
It is our goal to cultivate in each child a personal relationship with Christ and teach them the Biblical principles that will forge them into godly individuals. This is done through the teaching of the Word of God, prayer and worship. We feel that the best way to accomplish this is to provide teaching and activities that are age appropriate. In light of this we provide children’s church during all adult services. As you grow in the Lord, so will your children.
From what scriptural text does Calvary Chapel get their philosophy of ministry to the children?
"And these words which I command you today shall be in your heart. You shall teach them diligently to your children, and shall talk of them when you sit in your house, when you walk by the way, when you lie down, and when you rise up. You shall bind them as a sign on your hand, and they shall be as frontlets between your eyes. You shall write them on the doorposts of your house and on your gates." (Deuteronomy 6:6-9)
What are the class structures?
- Nursery (0-2 year olds)
- Pre-K and Kindergarten (3-5 year olds)
- 1st-3rd Grade
- 4th-5th Grade
When are children's ministry classes offered?
- At the Sunday 9:00 am service, we offer nursery, 3-5 year old, 1st-3rd, and 4th-5th grade classes.
- At the Sunday 11:15 am service, although we don't offer a nursery class, we do have a 3-5 year old class and a 1st-5th grade class.
- At the Thursday evening service, at 7:00 pm, we offer nursery, 3-5 year old, 1st-3rd, and 4th-5th grade classes.
What kind of activities go on in the classroom?
- The children participate in their own praise and worship service.
- The children study the Word at their level.
- The children participate in games, activities and crafts designed to reinforce the lessons.
What is the goal of Calvary Chapel in ministering to the children while in the classroom?
Our goal is to communicate God’s love to the children at their level of understanding. We seek to have a children's ministry that is both fruitful and enjoyable. Classes are specifically designed for each age group. Because we believe the Bible is essential to spiritual development, our lessons come directly from the teaching of Scripture.
Can a mother sit with her infant or small child in the sanctuary?
Although we do not allow infants and small children in the main services, we have a nursing mother's room and a family room with a LIVE audio and video feed signal of the Bible study, for those that would like to sit with their children.
